The dossier that wins Swiss apartments

Swiss landlords choose tenants from paper. If your dossier is complete and yours is the first to arrive, you win. If it is incomplete, you lose to someone with less money but a better file.

A complete Swiss dossier holds: passport copy, permit or job contract, last three salary slips, a Betreibungsauszug (debt collection extract, CHF 17 from your commune once you are registered), a reference from your previous landlord, and a short cover letter in the local language if you can manage it.

The Betreibungsauszug is the piece newcomers forget. Order it the same week you register your address.

Homegate.ch, Immoscout24, and Flatfox are the three main platforms. Ronorp is where the good sublets hide.
