Opening a Swiss bank account without the pain

You need a Swiss IBAN before you can pay rent, receive your salary in most cases, and set up direct debits for insurance and taxes.

Bring your passport, your Anmeldebestätigung (proof of registration), and your permit or a copy of your job contract. That is the real list.

The traditional banks (UBS, Raiffeisen, cantonal banks like ZKB or BCV) will take a few days. Digital challengers like Neon, Yuh, Zak, and Alpian open an account from your phone in under an hour.

You can hold both. Most expats do: one traditional bank for the salary and rent, one digital app for daily spending.
