One year in, what to renew, review, and let go

You have made it through the fortnight, and hopefully through your first months on the ground. Here is the annual maintenance list nobody hands you.

Renew: your permit (before it expires, not after), your Halbtax if you use it, your home insurance if you switched apartments.

Review: your health insurance premium (open switching window is October to end of November each year), your tax situation if you cross CHF 120k, your Swiss will if you have one.

Let go: the assumption that everything works like it did back home. It does not. It works differently. Mostly better, once you have the muscle memory.
