Sunday in Switzerland is a nationally protected quiet day. Shops are closed except in train stations and airports, no drilling, mowing, or vacuuming, laundry is discouraged in most buildings, and noise between 22:00 and 07:00 (and all day Sunday) is regulated. Restaurants, museums, cable cars, hiking trails, and public transport all run normally. Break the noise rules twice and your neighbours will file a written complaint.
